Biography
Alan Goldizen is a Senior Research Assistant and Project Coordinator in the Visual Ecology Laboratory at the University of Queensland in Brisbane Australia. Alan’s training at Marlboro College, Vermont, and Eastern Michigan University led to many years of employment in terrestrial field ecology and surgical research. This included extended fieldwork on mammals in the rain forests of Panama and Peru, and bird behavioral ecology in island scrub and grassland in Tasmania. Upon settling in Brisbane in 1993, Alan moved into marine research. Since that time he has worked on green turtle population genetics, crab reproduction dynamics, ecosystem health monitoring through marine botany and color vision neurobiology. Alan’s work includes all aspects of research lab management and support, but his keenest interests are in field operations, with a growing focus on deep sea biology.
