Biography
Captain George Gunther has been working on Harbor Branch ships since 1994, and took over as captain of the R/V Seward Johnson in 2006. He obtained his Masters License in the Merchant Marines in 1989 and has since been in command of four different research vessels and the cruise ship Mayan Princess. He served four years as Navigator about Coast Guard cutters from 1985 – 1989 prior to being employed by American Canadian Caribbean Cruise Lines. Captain George grew up in North Kingstown, Rhode Island and attended education and training at CCRI, the University of Rhode Island, the USCG Navigation Training Center, Maritime Professional Training/Federal Communications Commission and Medical Advisory System prior to obtaining a degree in Business Administration and a Masters License for Ships on all Oceans.
