Biography
Liz Smith is a science filmmaker and multimedia producer. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Science and Natural History Filmmaking from Montana State University and an undergraduate degree in Astronomy from Whitman College. Prior to working with the Waitt Institute, Liz produced films and multimedia about astrophysics and earth sciences at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. She has also produced documentary work for the National Park Service, FEMA, and multiple non-profit organizations in and around the DC Metro Area and worked as a science reporter for the NBC affiliate in Bozeman, Montana. Liz is member of Filmmakers for Conservation (FFC), the flying Ninety-Nines and American MENSA. She also sits on the Alumni Advisory Council for Montana State University’s Department of Media and Theatre Arts. She is a certified Advanced Scuba Diver and a private pilot.
